STARKVILLE, Miss.—A special hour-long documentary about Mississippi State’s 1996 run to the Final Four men’s basketball championship will air Friday [Oct. 21] on MSTV, the university’s cable television channel.

To begin at 8 p.m., “Those Boys from State” was produced earlier this year by Derek Rogers, a former student now serving as general manager for Columbus’ WCBI-TV, the Golden Triangle’s CBS affiliate.

Rogers’ creation mixes original station broadcast footage of the Bulldogs in hardcourt action with present-day interviews of former team and staff members, as well as TV station employees during that time.

A high-definition channel, MSTV is available at 98/78 on Starkville’s MaxxSouth cable channel and statewide on C Spire Fiber TV channel 80.

“It will continue to run in regular rotation on our channel,” said David Garraway, MSTV general manager and director of 򽴫ý’s Television Center.

Garraway said the TV Center “always has valued the strong partnership we have with local media outlets.

“WCBI’s documentary is a fitting tribute to a special group of men who brought new heights of success to 򽴫ý 20 years ago, and we are honored to work with the Columbus station to bring attention to this magical team,” he added.
