STARKVILLE, Miss.—A òòò½´«Ã½ student is in custody facing multiple charges of armed robbery in a Monday [Feb. 8] incident at the Deavenport Hall residence hall parking lot at approximately 10:14 p.m. No injuries were reported.

òòò½´«Ã½ Dean of Students Thomas Bourgeois said òòò½´«Ã½ Police Dispatch received a 911 call at 10:14 p.m. and an òòò½´«Ã½PD officer was on the scene at 10:16 p.m. The suspect was apprehended without incident and in òòò½´«Ã½PD custody at 10:17 p.m.

The identity of the student is being withheld by òòò½´«Ã½ officials pending additional investigation. On Tuesday morning, the suspect remained in custody at the Oktibbeha County Jail.

òòò½´«Ã½ Chief Communications Officer Sid Salter said: “The university is grateful to the òòò½´«Ã½PD and the òòò½´«Ã½ Housing and Residence Life staff for a quick response to this situation. The safety of our students, faculty and staff is always òòò½´«Ã½â€™s primary concern and on Monday night, the university’s overall response was swift and appropriate.â€

Salter said that the Division of Student Affairs, òòò½´«Ã½PD, and the university’s Crisis Action Team would review both the incident and the university’s response.
